2 INTERNSHIPS: REUBIN O'D ASKEW INSTITUTE ON POLITICS AND SOCIETY

The Askew Institute at the University of Florida is seeking 2 interns for the Fall 2009 semester – a Askew Research Intern and a Askew Communications Intern.

We are looking for one intern who is pursuing a major in public policy, political science, history, journalism, or any related humanities field. The Intern will be responsible for 7-10 hours a week; the majority of the position will require researching Florida-specific issues and information. This position will also update and maintain participant databases, assist with special event planning and logistics, and other daily programmatic activities.

The second Intern will be responsible for participating in public relations and communication efforts for the Institute. This position will work closely with the Research Intern in creating an easily comprehensible web format for our informational database. The Intern will be responsible for 7-10 hours a week; knowledge of Facebook/Twitter/ and other social applications are essential. Preference will be given to those students with web development experience; experience with Macromedia applications such as Dreamweaver and Flash and website publishing is preferred, but not required.

Interns will receive 3 hours of Political Science or History (POS 4940 or HIS 4944) for participating in this program (credit in any other department will not be given). As to how these credits will fit into your program of study, you will need to speak to your department's advisor. The intern positions are part-time, unpaid positions.
